December 2010 Update: Keep the Haythorpes in Missions Update

Hey Friends!

I wanted to follow up from our ‘Keep the Haythorpes in Missions’ blog.

First, thank you to those who responded! We
have felt much love and encouragement in this time of hardship. We do feel very blessed.

Our praise report is that we received 6 new partners in this last month! What an encouraging step…

You know, its funny how much of this is such a rollercoaster. Today as Luke and I were praying, I just asked God to articulate for me what my heart was feeling. He gave me the impression of this small snippet scripture and it started to become clearer to me.

He said: “LORD, the God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven or on earth—you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way. You have kept your promise to your servant David my father; with your mouth you have promised and with your hand you have fulfilled it—as it is today.
This portion of scripture all begins with praise. I truly believe I’m beginning to see the bigness of God and His magnificence. My heart is to worship him with ALL of me. I delight in worshipping Him.

“Now, LORD, the God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, ‘You shall never fail to have a successor to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants are careful in all they do to walk before me according to my law, as you have done.’ And now, LORD, the God of Israel, let your word that you promised your servant David come true.
The scripture then moves into request. In all requests I know that God is completely capable of meeting them. I know it! But I did get a true glimpse of my heart when I read the next part.

“But will God really dwell on earth with humans? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built! Yet, LORD my God, give attention to your servant’s prayer and his plea for mercy. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence. May your eyes be open toward this temple day and night, this place of which you said you would put your Name there. May you hear the prayer your servant prays toward this place. Hear the supplications of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.

(2 Chronicles 6:14-21)

In verse 18, it says “But will God really…” Now, I completely believe that God is capable to meet needs but don’t always believe that he will do it for me.

This spirit of ‘devalue’ hangs over me from time to time and its “funny” that it’s the same spirit we are battling against in the area of human trafficking. What a lesson! How humbling to see how damaged your own heart is. But as I delve into The Father, he heals my heart in truth.

As I type this it is the December 1st… we still need to see over $3000 come in the next 3 days. I wish I could say it was for an outreach or something cool so there is ‘value’ in it, but that form of value is a lie. To share it is just to have a roof over our heads and electricity is enough of a value. My perception of ‘value’ is skewed sometimes by ‘what we do’ but I now see he values us for ‘us’! He is molding and shaping us as we step out in ministry. I know that He wants to meet our needs not only so we can continue on in His call but because He just values us. I look forward to sharing of his provision!

So as I leave my open heart with you, I hope that not only can you relate to this but that it resonates within you. Please carry this with us as part of the larger body (Romans 12:4-16). We are completely blessed by our new support but we still would love more partnerships.

With much love and sincerity,

Angela
