For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans
to give you hope and a future.
to give you hope and a future.
I remember in high school God highlighted this verse to me as I was reading my Bible one day. Since then, I have seen it plastered on everything but I had never heard it before that day. It was my last year of high school and I just wanted direction with my future. And EVERY time I come to that place of praying about my future, this is the promise that I continue to hold on to...
We consider the house a very God-given circumstance in our lives. We had heard from God through the whole situation. We have learned to really go before God on our knees and seek his face for life changing decisions. Its so different from making decisions on outreach, etc. Learning to seek Him wholly is the best thing that could come from any situation, I think. :) When we moved from the house, we gave a time limit on our waiting for the house to go up for auction as we felt we needed to focus on ministry stuff and let this not be a distraction. So, when that time limit was reached... The house was still not for auction so we prayed. And God spoke so clear to us that we felt at peace to let the house go after such a battle.
We have now passed the baton of the house off to another wonderful family here at the base. The Davies have 3 boys and are ready to put their roots down here LONG TERM as they are embarking on some amazing things coming up with the YWAM Australia Ship Ministry which is underway! We love these guys and completely believe in them!
So as we focused on ministry, we grew more excited about the possibilities. We were planning to tour with Five Star Streets in Sept-Oct this year through the USA and the boys were recording a new album (Let Justice Sing). Everything was going so well yet we were not settled in our spirits. There was no reason for it as we were doing EVERYTHING we had been aiming for over the years. Luke was walking in his dream! We could see success right around the corner but were confused by the unsettled feelings we had. So what more could we do but pray...
OUR ANSWER TO PRAYER
We prayed, we fasted, we waited... And God spoke. He has begin stirring in our hearts a dream. This wasn’t a new dream. It was an evolving dream over many years. We begin to realize that our time at YWAM Reef to Outback/Townsville was coming to an end.
We met with the directors of the ministry who are also our close friends, Ken and Robyn. We shared with them and prayed with them. We talked to the band members and prayed with them and cried a bit. We all sensed in God that it was right. What a feeling of sadness yet excitement. So there we were leaning on a promise again, “I KNOW the plans I have for you... And they are to prosper you and give you a hope and a future”! We are still standing on it! Excited. Sad. Hopeful. Faith filled... It is time.
OUR NEXT STEP
We have always had a vision on our hearts that encompasses a few things that we feel is OUR personal Ministry. What we carry with us in everything we do. We have always had a heart for people and seeing them walk into their destiny, we have always wanted to be advocates in bringing awareness of injustice, and we have had our hands in media and music. That is us in a nutshell... That is our “mission”.
Over the years God has been birthing in us a vision for what that looks like in ministry and now we have the green light to proceed in starting up our own ministry. The area we feel highlighted to us is the USA... California of all places. We are in process of talking to the YWAM leaders that oversee California and we are asking a lot of questions on what this ministry could look like in YWAM. We will let you know how that develops.
At this point in time, we will be pioneering this ministry from scratch! We are under no illusions that this will be an easy thing. In fact we are taking on A LOT more than we ever have but are up for the challenge! We see a whole new mountain before us as we will no longer have free healthcare and our support will now be decreased due to the exchange rate (and other factors) but our God is known for moving mountains! We’re open to whatever God puts in our path and are excited for the dream the HE put on our heart!
We are in process of getting the kids’ citizenships and Luke’s visa... But the plan is to leave in September. My mom is coming out for 6 weeks (from Aug-Sept) and will help us pack up and move on over. But Luke’s visa dictates the REAL travel dates but at this point it doesn’t look like it will be a problem.
We are also possibly looking at doing a school in Denver, CO with YWAM called the School of Social Justice. This school is in October and ends mid-December. This is something that we’d really like to do but not quite sure how things will look when we get all moved over. So once again, we’ll keep you posted.
This is real folks... We are going for it. :)
We’d appreciate your prayer as this is an emotional transition as well as a physical one. We are leaving our home where we met and started our family. This is a HUGE goodbye for us.
*A Home: we need to find an affordable and suitable home for our family, as well as, stuff for our home.. Like I said, we are literally starting from SCRATCH! (If you are interested, we registered at Target)
*Finances: We need to see a SIGNIFICANT amount per month added to our support (as we now have to include health insurance, etc). We will keep you posted on what our needs are.
*Wisdom with each step: We know the OVERALL picture of what God is calling us to but we need more clarity on the step by step process of how to get there. We also need more wisdom as we dialog with various leaders and submit some of our ideas with them.
*The kids transition: That they will transition smoothly into this new life. They think all America consists of is Disneyland and Chuck E. Cheese’s so I hope the reality check isn’t too much of a shock. :) Also, Joy will have to jump from the middle of Kindergarten straight into First Grade so it might be a bit overwhelming. Also, where Kindi would have started school in December, she will now have to wait another year because the school years start at different times. She is disappointed by that, as are we. :(
We completely value and appreciate your thoughts and prayers in this time. Feel free to contact us if you have more questions and thoughts. The cat is now out of the bag! :)
