December 2009 Update: Ministry Update

Hi friends.

Our long ‘in process’ update is finally here!  As we have stepped out in pursuing beginning a ministry centre here in the bay area, we finally have some solid details!!

To officially launch this ministry with YWAM we need to see a minimum of $5500 /month of personal support raised.  While this will not be our complete support it will mean that we will not have to rely on any income from part-time jobs, so we can devote 100%  of our time to this new baby of a ministry.

Joy's 6th Birthday

Usually Joy's birthdays have been packed full of all of our friends and usually not a whole lot of family, this is mainly because we have lived so far from our loved ones... This year it looked a lot different!!

We had a 'horse' themed birthday this year at a local park, it was smaller than normal but we all loved

Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.

We are now slowly adjusting to life here in the USA. We have encountered challenges we did not expect and if we focus on that it does seem like an army besieging us…. BUT the thing we fix our eyes on is that GOD IS

It took but mere seconds for the kids to figure out the phenomenon called Trick or Treating! Excitement was building as we started to get dressed up in costumes and put the makeup on. The kids could not sit still!

October 2009 Update: Safely arrived!

The moment is here! We are here! We are in America!

With 10 suitcases, 3 guitars, 7 carry-ons and 4 children under 5 it was THE ADVENTURE of a lifetime. Can't say I would do it again any time soon but it is done and now we're here.

We were met with open arms in Southern California with our dear friends the DeMamiels as we crashed at their place for a few days and caught up on life. Oh how we love them! Their little guy Mason and our Levi were inseparable!

Pumpkin Patch & Jesus' light

We had our very first Pumpkin Patch experience as we begin our life in the USA! The kids loved exploring the fields of orange and picking out just the right pumpkin. They were in for a surprise as they had no idea what the pumpkins were for. We had a WONDERFUL day with their cousins that some had met for the first time. Then we were off for home.

The next day, we talked about some of their favorite things and decided on what they wanted their

Hooroo Mates!!

What does 'HooRoo' even mean?? Well, it's a distinctively Australian way of saying “goodbye”.

The Girls recently had a goodbye party for their school friends and we celebrated it by going to an Australian Wildlife Park called Billabong Sanctuary. It was a very fun time to just hang out and spend time with friends.

Overwhelmed!

We recently were given a farewell party by our Reef to Outback Family. We reminisced over the past 10 years working and living with this amazing tribe we call YWAMers... or more specifically Reef to Outbackers.

Earlier this year, we had someone encourage us that this year would be a year of change for us, little did we know how much change we would be experiencing!!

MOVING TO THE USA!
When Ang and I first sensed that God was trying to get our attention about leaving it took a while for us to come to grips with what we believed He was showing us…

Kindi turns 3

Well, my beautiful Kindi-bean is now 3! We had a belated party because it was busy-busy with the National Leader's Meeting in town. So we had an intimate "Little Mermaid" Party.

Kindi is obsessed with the Little Mermaid right now and it was only fitting to give her a Mermaid blowout! She got lots of girlie gifts and was happy to have something that was SO "KINDI"!

We had her party in the backyard that was 'the sea', and everyone got to wear a mer-fin. Fun times!

Enjoy the pictures!

Kindi turns 4

We named her Kindness in hopes that it would be her nature... and by all means it is!!

Kindi had her 4th birthday and it seemed all her friends were drawn to her because of one thing... she is a kind little girl.

We had 4 very special gatherings for her birthday! And the theme for them all was a "Rainbow, Princess, Pony, Fairy, Mermaid Tea Party" as she could not decide what she wanted more... so, we got creative!

First she had a little party at her school and we made Rainbow Jello Cups for the 26 children and a few teachers. I (Angela) had the opportunity to spend a bit of time in her classroom helping with her class.

Next, we had a cake at the Reef to Outback to share with her YWAM Family. A few days later we had a cake at MeMa's (Luke's mom) house to share a family celebration... that was actually a Madagascar Cake. She LOVES that movie.

Lastly, we had her Birthday Party. By request it was a "GIRLS ONLY" Party... not even Daddy, Levi or Xavier could come to the party. So we made it as Pink and Purple as possible! We enjoyed making fairy wings and wands, playing pin the tail on the pony, having a tea party and blowing bubbles. Auntie Anna made a masterpiece of a cake. It was a great day... Girl Power!! :)

Bathroom Revelations

Here I am sitting in the bathroom (the ONLY quiet room in the ENTIRE house). I have my Bible, scrap paper, and pen and here I sit and scribble down my thoughts…

I have just been praying and waiting on the Lord. I want wisdom… I need wisdom!

These past few days have made me so incredibly grateful that the God who created the Heavens and Earth cares about even the smallest detail of my life. I have NEVER felt so blessed… and I have had much to be thankful for. I feel like God is taking me to depths that I assumed I had reached but I was so wrong. I am in awe of His grace upon our lives… Thank you sweet Jesus!

And the light bulb went on!!

As a parent, I feel like some things are worth fighting for and others just happen. I have 4 very busy kids and honestly not nearly enough energy as I probably need for the little midgets.

For example... Potty Training = time and effort but pretty much it comes in time (when they're ready), Sitting down to eat Dinner at the table = time, effort and training. And so on...

Now, the reason why we do what we do is because Jesus. Explaining Jesus to a child is a very difficult thing.... BUT I have felt that this is something worth fighting for. Many times I have told my kids about Jesus and have shown them how to pray and share that he still talks to us today.

This year as Easter has approached, I have been awe-struck at what has happened with my kids. They got it. They really got it! I will forever treasure in my heart the night Joy and Kindi ran through the house so excited that Jesus is Alive. Death could not hold him down and they got that. Isn't it amazing?!

I guess it shows that the things you fight for, pay off in the end. And I'm so glad they do because if it wasn't for the wonderful sacrifice Jesus did... we wouldn't be here today. How amazing He is!

Our little man, our BABY, our little munchkin is now 1!! It's hard to believe that a whole year has flown by and we are now leaving the baby years and are now headed full force into the toddler years.

We had a combined party for the boys a week before X's actual birthday and he welcomed the theme. It was obviously his favorite move 'TOY STORY'. Whenever he sees it on his face lights up. I guess its the idea of toys coming to life... whatever the case, he LOVES IT!

Mommy TRIED really hard to make a cake that didn't quite work out the was she envisioned it in her head... but it was still yummy. And we helped X blow out the candles... as he was trying to grab at the flame. :)

Then on X's actual birthday, we had a small cake with Mema and Auntie Anna (pictured above). We bought a little chocolate cake and we all shared in the celebration with our new little 1 year old. Although he had a small cold... nothing held back a little celebration. :)

We're still awaiting the walking... X is a stubborn fellow but when he's up and running, we'll let you know!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY X!!!

Things you do when you're bored...

Late one night whilst on the computer, we came across a friend's video that he made with "chin puppets". Initially the kids were scared but then I explained... well, I showed them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyUWg6_wapo&index=11&list=PL98CFD7E7B017C940

I hung my head over the side of the couch and put some stickers on my chin like eyes. Then i covered my nose and eyes with a towel and we were in business. They could literally not stop laughing.

We started this at 8pm and went until about 10:30. We convinced them it was time for bed but they wanted to do ONE LAST video. This was the final product. ENJOY!

Levi's 2nd Birthday!!

Levi's favorite thing of ALL TIME is Lightening McQueen! He watches Cars EVERY single day... no joke. So it wasn't too difficult for us to choose what theme we should use for his birthday this year...

Although we had a duel birthday celebration for the boys, I thought I'd only include Leviin this as Xavier's birthday is next week and... fingers crossed... he'll be walking by his actual birthday. :)

Levi was showeres with hot wheels, micromachines, and trains... he was litterally in heaven. A look of sheer glee and unbelief as he saw his Lightening McQueen cake was a look to be remembered. What a great day for Levi and we're happy to have a big 2-year-old boy now!

we just hadn’t really had the words. However, here I am to fill you in.

Joy starts Kindergarten (Prep)!!

My baby has grown up overnight! Yesterday she had her very first day of "Big Girl School". She struggled through the day with tears here and there. Mrs. Benett told me that she kept saying, "I lost my mommy" (A phrase she has adopted since my trip to America).

Her second day, she battled tears all morning not wanting to go to school. I tried to ease the flow of ters with the promise of a chocolate cookie after school. However, they did not subside.

We walked into the classroom and put everything in its place and before we knew it the music played prompting the kids to go sit in a circle. They all started to fall in one by one. Joy's big ol' tear filled eyes looked up at me and Joy said, "Mom... it's time for me to stop crying and it's time for you to go home". Surprised, I smiled and gave her a big hug. I sent her an her way and she sent me on mine. A few hours later I picked her up and she had the largest grin on her face. She said she had so much fun and couldn't wait to go tomorrow! Yeah for school!
